Altima Coupe: The Best of its Kind

By: Anthony Fontanelle

The Altima is a mid-size car manufactured by the Japanese automaker Nissan. The first generation Nissan Altima entered the spotlight in 1993 as a replacement for the Stanza. It has been larger, more powerful, and more luxurious than the Nissan Sentra.

The Altima coupe was released on May 25, 2007 as a 2008 model. It is a 2-door, 5-passenger family coupe, available in two trims, the 2.5 S and the 3.5 SE. It combines performance and an attractive exterior car parts. Nissan says that it gave the Altima Coupe its own style, dimensions and driving experience.

“The 2.5 S is equipped with a standard 2.5 liter, I4, 175 horsepower engine that achieves 23 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway. The 3.5 SE is equipped with a standard 3.5 liter, V6, 270 horsepower engine that achieves 19 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway. A 6-speed manual transmission with overdrive is standard on both trims, and a variable speed automatic transmission with overdrive is optional.”

The 2008 Nissan Altima Coupe's appearance is one of its standout features. Some reviewers say that it’s the most beautiful coupe they ever saw. Its stylish silhouette rivals the beauty of Nissan's Infiniti G35 luxury coupe.

It comes with a unique design 17 inch aluminum wheels and 215/55R17 tires. Its sloping roofline and tapering greenhouse also look terrific.

This car gets a good overall score with its interior. It features an Intelligent Key with Push Button Ignition and available Bose®-developed audio system with nine speakers, Bluetooth® Hands-Free Phone System, satellite radio and dual-zone automatic temperature control. The support and comfort offered by the heavily bolstered sport seats are excellent. Reviewers noticed that after several hours of driving, they felt none of the fatigue that they experience on poorly padded and bolstered seats. It has cargo area large enough for huge groceries and dry cleaned clothes.

“Accident avoidance features on the Altima Coupe include a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) and, on the 3.5 SE, a traction control system (TCS). The optional Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) packages for the 3.5 SE adds a system for detecting and preventing under steer and over steers.” Its standard crash-protection features include front air bags with seat belt and occupant-classification sensors, driver and front-passenger seat-mounted side-impact supplemental air bags and roof-mounted curtain side-impact supplemental air bags.

The Altima Coupe is the sportiest-looking model to come out of Nissan's factory.
