There was a time when the main use for audiobooks was entertainment for children on long car journeys. Not any longer, sales of audiobooks has been steadily increasing for the past 20 years

Instead of the author reading their own book, more and more publishers are using professional speakers to voice audiobooks and this is one of the reasons for the increase in sales. Also the fact you can download an audiobook and put it on your ipod has also attracted more people to use audiobooks.

The improvements in technology that allow audiobooks to be downloaded together with famous people that are voicing some audiobooks means that the sales of audiobooks looks certain to grow.

Faster download speeds due to improvements in broadband technology has helped increase the sales of audiobooks and there are now many sites with audiobooks for sale.

Since their inception, children's audiobooks have been instrumental in teaching children to read. Now, these same children have grown up and are using audiobooks in college. It's a way to increase the number of books they read on a subject and also increases their comprehension of the books.

Audiobooks have always been indispensable to the blind. Now, magazine publications are making their monthly offerings available in audiobook format and the blind are able to subscribe to it in the same way the written version is presented.

This holiday season will see a jump in sales of iPods. It seems that almost everyone covets the little device that allows easy portability of music, computer technology and audiobooks.

Using an ipod you can now listen to a large variety of different things. As well as music you could be brushing up on your Spanish lessons or improving your financial knowledge, anything is possible and you can be listening anyplace anywhere.

You can improve your job prospects when travelling to work by listening to an appropriate audio book when it might be difficult to physically read the same book.

Audiobooks are really a great time saver, when we have to do so many things in a short space of time they enable us to learn a new skill while undertaking another task such as preparing a meal or driving. A lot of people now view them as indispensible and their popularity is sure to increase.
