Beware of Scammers

By: Emil Nasarenko

Look out for scammers purporting to be Hon Sulaiman AK Al-Muhaidib from Saudi Arabia, they also use the names of James Peters and James Palmer. They scour the internet looking for people who are looking for investors, offering to invest much more that you are looking for. There are at least 3 people involved in this scam. They don't ask for money straight away, they lull you into a false sense of security, pretending to be Sulaiman Al-Muhaidib, a real person, using a garbled version of his real address. They obviously know something about the real Muhaidib, but don't have his business acumen, if they were as smart as him they would have gotten our money. I am not the smartest person on this planet but I don't like dealing with pushy people and they started to get pushy.

When they asked for some information I asked them for verification of who
they are and they got all indignant, saying things like don't you trust me, but we are in need of some venture capital to complete a project that we are in the middle of, so a certain amount of trust was required to see if this deal was going to pan out. I asked to speak to Sulaiman, and was told that he is in meetings and then that he was a very important man and they were dealing with us on his behalf. Hoping for the best we kept up the contact with these people, not finding out for sure that they were scammers until late in the proceedings, but not too late. My wife got a nice holiday in Dubai, and got to meet some real investors, so good may still come out of this debacle. If someone wants to invest with you they will speak to you, and give you their office number.

James Peters speaks with a very strong Arabic accent, and gave us the phone number 971507964833, it is a Dubai number. James Palmer speaks with an even stronger Arabic accent and his number is 447045731522, it is a London phone number. The fake Sulaiman Al-Muhaidib didn't give us his phone number as he is a very busy man, too busy to speak to someone who he wants to invest $3m with, but he did ring my wife while she was in Dubai, also of course, speaking with a similar accent. The latest phone call from Sulaiman (the fake) was to say that he would go halves with us in the $19,000 insurance bond, because he still likes our project.

They wanted to meet my wife at the airport when she arrived in Dubai, but she booked into a hotel first and then rang them, they wanted to know her room number and were told that they could go to reception and ask for her by name.

James Peters lost his cool by this time, starting to yell at me, saying that
they were very important people and cant be treated this way, we don't murder people here in Dubai, etc.

I did the usual internet searches and found Sulaiman easily enough, the real
one is a very wealthy man from Saudi, but the two James' were much harder to find. Finally I found an article in 419 Scams with a letter using the name of
James Peters, but this James Peters was a fake solicitor in London, not a fake accountant in Dubai, and nothing on James Palmer. Hence this article, I want their names on the internet so that other genuine people wont be tricked by these fraudsters, at least not using these names. I have also reported the
incident to the abuse departments for their email addresses, so they will have to get new email addresses, I hope.

I found websites, and sent messages to them, who had been looking for
investors and had Sulaiman offers in their comments pages, none of them
answered my messages. If they had I would have been forewarned. If anyone sends a message to me via our website I answer it, those websites that ignored my messages are only perpetuating the problem. We should all be on the lookout for fraudsters, and we should do what we can to help eachother.

It is a small world and becoming smaller, you are all my neighbours, and I
help my neighbours. It hasn't stopped us looking for investors but it has taught us that if an investor is for real he will come to Australia to meet us. For more information or assistance, or if you are a real investor you can contact me at emil@elvirasparadise.com
