Business Start-Ups ... Genuine or Phony?

By: Kristopher Hooper

For All Home Based Business Start- Ups, Know These Four Crucial Things To Look For.

There are no doubt countless business opportunities all over the internet promising the moon and stars if you let them help you set up an internet home based business(for a certain amount of money of course). It can be down right frustrating knowing which ones are the legitimate opportunities to take on or which ones to steer far away from. You must know what to look for when deciding which one to get involved with.

Understand that not all of the people with their opportunities that make these tantalizing claims of success are out to take your money, but there are four things that most of these companies have in common: You must know these when deciding what to take on.

1. Large upfront investment

2. Making a lot of money with hardly no work

3. Not clearly outlining what will be done

4. Available contact information lacking

While it is not uncommon for businesses to want a fee to become a representative for their business, you have to consider the amount demanded from you before you can start selling their product or service. It is common for the term training to be listed, but many times the training consists of links to other sites where you are expected to learn about the company's business model.

The training may consist of how to recruit others into the business, offering to give you a "spiff" for bringing in new people. Companies that do this and focus solely on it may be on the border of being illegal.

One of the most common pitches is the promise of a big payday without having to work more than an hour or two a day or even a week. There is no such thing as a free lunch and those who try to convince you otherwise are most likely not being totally honest.

If you have been reading an online based business opportunity for several minutes and have no idea about the product or service you are being asked to sell, it could be an indication of a scam. Many keep it a secret until you have spent your money and find out there is no way you can sell this to others with a clear conscious. Know what the product is, and how much it will cost, before considering the offer any further.

Email addresses and post office boxes are not good contacts at all. Those two should be definite warning signs when considering. Also, those great money back guarantees are usually only good if they provide great contact information.
