Dedicated or Shared Hosting - Which One Is Best Suited for You?

By: Arvind Sharma

Making a website maybe simple but making it live is not an easy task. A lot of effort goes into finding the right web hosting service for your website. This is where the hosting companies play a major part. These web hosts help you and make sure that your website is live and running on the internet without any type of technical problems.

With so many service providers in the industry it might be a difficult job in selecting the most appropriate web hosting company. There are free to paid website hosting services. However, the free services have limited features such as content restriction, uploading problem, etc. These things are really important especially if you are a newcomer in this industry.

There are different types of web hosting. Shared and dedicated hosting are the most common types we come across nowadays. These are also known as web hosting packages. Shared hosting, as the name suggests, means many websites are on one server and sharing common resources such as the IP address, bandwidth, etc. As all the websites are sharing everything in common, certain restrictions will be put on all websites regarding their bandwidth and disk space. Even your website will take longer to load due to the congestion that will be caused due to the single server and IP address.

Dedicated web hosting is much more organized and easier as you have all the resources to use for yourself. You don’t have any sort on restrictions as you have a dedicated server for your website. Over and above that you have the freedom to run more than one website on your server. You have complete authority over the disk space and bandwidth.

Now the next question that arises is which one would be appropriate for your website - a shared hosting or a dedicated one. There few things that needs to be kept in mind while choosing the right option. First and foremost is your budget, secondly is how many people you expect would visit your website. If your company is new and the budget is not too much then it would be better if you decide on shared hosting as it will be affordable and once your company grows, you always have the option of switching over to a dedicated server or dedicated hosting.

Dedicated hosting is suited to people with well established companies where many people keep checking out the website. It also helps in reducing traffic and redirecting the person quicker to the website.

So if you want bandwidth, dedicated server and faster redirection to your website then dedicated hosting is for you!
