Since the first game was released, the success of the Grand Theft Auto series has been one outstanding game after another, and it has proven to be one of the most well-known gaming franchises ever created. With each title released, it is a great leap not only for the franchise, but for video gaming itself. And for those who was played this game, you can pretty much tell how it has propelled the Sandbox genre as a hit among gamers. GTA4 is the 9th game off of the series and will continue on with where GTA 3 left off. However, the series has given gamers with an entirely new experience with each game, and fans can certainly expect the same with GTA IV.

While every GTA story has been carefully crafted to offer a much different kind of experience, you can always expect it to have the same intense and spectacular nature. But GTA 4 provides a different perspective into the game's storyline. In this game, players will get to immerse in the persona of Niko Bellic, who is a former soldier wanting to escape a troubled past, not knowing that more trouble await him in Liberty City. However, Niko is built for this stuff, and he does not have trouble blending in and easily finds Liberty City a great place to explore. However, GTA differs in the use of the character in that there is more depth into the motives behind the character's actions, which makes playing this game all the more gripping. In past GTA games, characters can partake in rampages or other violent acts at will, but because Niko has missions to fulfill, your adventures are defined within that mission.

Meanwhile, the vast array of characters that are present in GTA4 has never impacted the whole game and storyline setting as it does in this game. They are the catalysts that move the story forward, especially Niko's actions; hence, you could find yourself in situations where you have to make a decision that will alter how the game turns out in the long run. Not only that, the relationships you form in this game is a vital element in the overall gameplay, as well as the decisions you have to make, which will require careful thought from you.

As Liberty City serves as the setting for GTA IV, it needs pointing out that there probably has been no other videogame before that looked this stunning. Not only will you have access to various locations within the game, but everything looked like much effort has been rendered in order to achieve such perfection in details.

But that is not all that Grand Theft Auto IV has to offer. It has used the previous GTA games as a launching pad for a much better and improved gameplay system. Probably one of the best features in GTA IV is the combat system. There's definitely more excitement into the game with a few very efficient feature that gamers can use to their advantage. And while there is still the free-aim feature, you can now make use of the very efficient lock-on feature. By setting your aim on an opponent and locking on to them, not one bullet will now go to waste. And once you've done that, there's nothing more left to do but press that button. This game also sports off a new cover system. You can make your character go behind or take cover from the nearest object by pressing on R1. It is recommended to use this feature when confronted with multiple enemies and you would be able to effectively shield yourself from any possible attack. In both scenarios, you will be able to lessen the amount of damage you can get, or even avoid the possibility of death. With this new combat system in your arsenal, playing in GTA IV has become a much more rewarding experience.

If this made you excited, hold that for a second because there's still the new in-car combat system. GTA IV has definitely been made more exciting with this new combat system that promises to be just as effective as on-foot combat and yet a whole lot more exciting. You can drive your car while knocking down your enemies at the same time. It is still possible to free-aim at your enemies through the car's window. But it can be a daunting task sometimes having to make sure that you don't crash while you're doing your best to hit the enemies. All these efforts of improving the game play mechanics is done to live up and even surpass fans' expectation of what GTA IV can deliver.

The mission structure of GTA IV is also another important aspect of this game that needs to be discussed. With GTA's reputation as a truly one of a kind game, GTA IV has managed to make use of effective elements and incorporated some fresh new twists into it. With each mission, you will have all of Liberty City to explore and you can be assured that each mission will offer a unique, but equally challenging, experience. And with that being said, it's safe to assume that this is probably the best and most explosive release off the series yet.

While in Liberty City, Roman's phone will be used by Niko and plays a key role in the game. This will be used as your control panel and can be a source of information on what needs to be done to get the game going. You can use the phone to receive messages about certain missions, and may also serve as your main access to multiplayer features and anything you have to accomplish the progress in the game. Having to use the phone as a way to control the game is definitely innovative, and it creates this illusion that everything is happening within the world of the game, which is independent of the player's command.

Also, an exciting new addition to this new GTA game is the online multiplayer feature. This is another way to increase the level of intensity within the game, now that you can have at most sixteen players playing side by side or competing against one another. But more importantly, GTA IV is raring to knock off such great games like Call of Duty 4 or Rainbow Six Vegas off their reign and soon be named as the king of Multiplayer with a great new game modes addition.
