How to Save on Your Brochure Printing Expenses

By: Joel Owens

Brochures if properly utilized can be an enormously useful marketing vehicle in delivering your ads. Huge posters, catalogs and postcards maybe considered a favorite but brochures definitely hit the spot as well.

Getting your brochures attune with your marketing needs is no big secret. Just like in any thing we do - good planning means great results. But getting good brochure prints without hurting your budget may be a little tricky and requires you make smart choices.

Here are some tried and tested tips you can put in mind to help you save some pennies in your pocket while you get quality brochure prints at the same time:

1. Plan, Plan, Plan

Nothing beats a prepared soldier for battle. It may still be a 50/50 chance for the soldier but planning ahead in advertising can definitely give you a better chance in winning your customer’s heart and getting the most out of your campaign. Planning ahead of time means thinking of how much you can spend and if it’s just the right amount for the marketing campaign you want to launch.

In brochure printing, you need to consider if you want to hire a graphic designer for your brochure design. How do you plan to distribute it and to how many potential customers? And how do you want your brochures? Tri-Fold, Half-Fold or Accordion Fold? All these and a lot of details should be considered in the planning stage.

2. Gang-run printing

You can save a lot if you look for a printer that offers gang-run printing. Gang run printing is an offset printing process that prints multiple print jobs at a single sheet. Allowing the print costs to be distributed to each print job, you get a lower price.

However, to ensure you get good quality print, make sure that the printing company has the right equipment to do the job. Most online printers offer affordable rates and good quality gang-run prints. Ask for printing samples to see the quality of their printing service.

3. Use Standard Print Materials

You can be as decorative as you want with your designs but in order to save costs, stick to standard paper stocks and inks. If it requires additional charge from your printer, take it off your list. Make smart choices by asking your printer on what standard choices they offer and by checking the quality of their standard prints.

4. Full Color Prints

Full color prints add life to your design and images, you may get to save more on two-color or one-color print but it may lessen your marketing impact. Full color is the way to go. Right now, there are several print companies that offer full color printing at affordable rates.

Though full-color printing is much better, you can cut down your expenses by avoiding Spot Colors on your design. Spot colors are specially mixed ink that may require additional costs. You can avoid this by choosing standard colors for your design that doesn’t require special mixing of colors.

5. Ask for Discounts

And lastly, create a good relationship to your printer and ask for discounts! Ask your printer about low-cost tips they could recommend and inquire about discounts while discussing your project.
