How to Use a Hair Straightener – The Right Way!

If you have always found yourself wondering how celebrities are able to have their lush and stylish hair, it is because most of them actually a hair straightener. That is probably one of the biggest secrets that have been uncovered in the past couple of years and have created a cult following among those who aspire to be as beautiful as the stars. As soon as you have purchased for yourself a hair straightener, you can easily start off with a few ground rules to boot.

First off, your hair should be somewhere in between damp and dry before you use a hair straightener. This is because the bit of moisture will lock in and set the texture of your hair and contributes to the shine that comes out afterwards. Next, you will have to work in a product in your hair before you start ironing it with a hair straightener. This product contains essential oils that prevent your hair from drying out from the heat of the hair straightener. After plugging in your hair straightener, wait for it to warm up a bit and gather a portion of your hair to be readied for straightening.

You should iron your hair section by section and it is always best for you to start on one side and go all the way around the other side to make sure you get all areas correctly. With your hair straightener and a thin comb, start at the roots and clamp the unit out and slide it all the way down. You should feel some sizzling bits coming from the contact of heat and hair, and this is pretty much a normal occurrence.

However, if the sizzles are a bit too loud then chances are your hair straightener has been plugged in for too long a time and is delivering scorching heat. You can either lower the heat setting of your hair straightener or you can add more water to your hair to dissipate it. Run the hair straightener all along the different sections of your hair once and then let it dry out for a bit to let the heat evaporate. Some people even suggest standing next to an air conditioner because the cold air that comes out from it helps to lock in the moisture, thus creating more shine.

After it cools down, you may run the hair straightener yet again in order to lessen the volume that your hair may eventually build up once you start moving around and the effect of the hair straightener wears out. Of course, you can also try to add a bit of holding spray if you want the effect of straight hair to last all night long. After your hair cools down, unplug the hair straightener and grab your holding spray. Mist a bit all over your head and wait for it to settle. Once it does, you are ready to go and you can be sure that others will admire your beautiful hair!
