There are certain factors that the social security checks to decide that the person is not a disabled and there are also certain factors that are analyzed to determine you to be a disabled person.

According to the social security, you might be considered to be a disabled person if you cannot do work that you used to earlier or are not in condition to adjust to different types of work due to your medical problems. Also, you can be determined as a disabled if your ill health continues more than one year or is life threatening leading to death. Based on this definition the social security members determine if you are actually disabled or not. Let's see first about the factors that the social security takes into account to decide that you are not a disabled.

1 The person deciding whether you are a disabled or not doesn't meet you instead they make you fill a form about your disabilities and appearance.

2 They check of how adversely you need the social security for your disability. They check if you are medically disabled to resume work or are completely unable to work.

3 They decide on the basis of the seriousness of your disability on whether you should be given social security or not.

4 Medical certificates are just for reference but are not the actual grounds according to which they decide to give social security.

There are five questions that are asked and your answer to these questions is analyzed to determine if you are disabled or not. These questions are:

1. Are you working?

2. Do you suffer from some medical problem which affects your ability to work?

3. Is your problem included in the list of impairments?

4. Are you able to do the work that you used to previous to your disability?

5. Are capable to do any other type of work?

Thus, based on these questions and factors, social security is decided for an disabled.
