Las Vegas Outdoor Attractions: Beyond the Skyline of Vegas

Las Vegas is a well-known urban vacation spot, but there are other aspects of this amazing region to be had beyond the gambling, shows, and clubs. Vegas is home to many great traditional outdoor activities and attractions. One could almost say that the area surrounding the suburbs of Las Vegas is a lost paradise of sorts. There are a number of fun and exciting sports and activities to do when outside the confines of the various casinos that mark the Las Vegas Strip. Take, for example, the exotic Mount Charleston. This is not just some hill on the horizon, but an actual mountain that seems to erupt from the earth. The peak of this majestic alp is somewhere in the area of twelve thousand feet high. Of course, this opens Mount Charleston up as an excellent opportunity for those that are interested in the extreme sports, such as mountain climbing, hiking, camping and biking. The peak of this mountain sits at such a high level that it is covered in snow, also making it a premier spot for those that enjoy the winter sports, such as snowboarding, sleigh riding and skiing. The view from the higher altitudes of this massive natural monument is unparalleled in all of Nevada.

Then, for those who prefer the warmer climates and that do not care all that much for amazing heights, there is the crimson scenery of the magnificent Red Rock Canyon. This is marked as a national conservation area and wildlife refuge, making it an excellent example of the Vegas Nevada region as it was originally before the hands of man began to mold it. Within this area you have almost two hundred thousand acres of beautiful countryside. One of the highlights is the strange crimson tinting to the rocks in the area, thus earning the name. On this land there is an old ranch that has been turned into a center for the area. From here activities are planned, such as hikes and expeditions, and resources are made available to visitors. There is a fee for entering this area, but it is almost negligible. Besides, even if it were expensive, there is no amount of money that could be worth the amazing scenery that you will view on your expedition into the Red Rock Canyon area.

Visiting Las Vegas Nevada should always entail a trip into the city to see the amazing sights and experience the Las Vegas lifestyle, but it is important to remember that the many casinos and shops that have made Vegas such a famous spot are only a grain of sand in the thousands of miles of Nevada Desert.
