By: Elizabeth Bambara

Want to add an additional stream of income to your website?

Have little or no time to deal with customers or don't have any products or services to offer?

No problem!

Including Google AdSense in your website or blog as part of your monetization plan could be your easiest and best option for earning a passive income. Adding AdSense on your site is simple, and yet it enables you to make money easily if you are planning or have a content rich website.

But What is AdSense?

AdSense is an advertising program that web site or blog owners partner with Google to earn income by placing ads strategically on your site. The ad the viewer will read or see is based on your content.

How Does It Work?

Let's say you have a content rich website or blog about dogs. You love and know a lot of information about your golden retriever, "Goldie". So you build your website or blog based on what you know about Goldie.

You wrote a page about what you think are the best cushions available or provided directions on how to make your own. Perhaps you were not able to find the appropriate product to recommend to your readers or don't have the time to search for one, but you still want to be able to profit from providing the information.

First, you will need to open an account with Google AdSense. When do you apply? You should have more than 25 visitors each day and only a couple of affiliate programs if at all on your website since AdSense prefers content rich websites.

You could be turned down if AdSense feels your site is just an add or fit their guidelines.

But don't worry, you can add you affiliate programs to your site after you get approved. Once you are approved, you can add AdSense to any other site or blog you have as long as you stay within the guidelines.

After you open your account with AdSense, they will provide you with the coding to add to your page providing the relevant adds automatically based on the content of your page.

Then when a visitor to your site clicks on the ad, you earn money.

But...Is AdSense Right For You?

Do you sell high end products or services?
Is your target market pretty sensitive?
Could the image of showing adds on your website hurt your business?
If you answered yes, then AdSense may not be right or make sense for your business.

Your In Control
AdSense even allows you to filter out your competition, pick the size, shape, and placement of your add. You can even track the placement of different type of adds you place on each page. So testing to see which adds do better in different places on your page if you want, couldn't be easier.

Don't Forget to Keep Google Happy
Make sure you adhere to Google's policies or you could loose your account permanently.

How could your loss your account? By encouraging others to click on your ads, providing adult content, or clicking on your own ads.

Passive Income
So, as you can see making money with Google AdSense can be an easy way to earn a passive income. So even if your reader does not find the solution to their problem on your site, you can still earn an income as they exit you site.
