Move out of the Low Conversion Club and develop a Website that Kicks Butt.

By: Anne Moss Rogers

Nobody wants a website that sits around and collects server dust. And no one
wants to pay for tons of traffic and end up with no conversions (ROI). To create successful websites that inspire a target market to join, call, buy or crown you president of Egypt, you need to do more than buy a host account and throw up a website.

The tightly held secret to developing a successful web presence.

I have a news flash for you. Posting a website doesn’t automatically inspire visitors to drop by and throw vaults of cash in your lap. The secret (drum
roll, please) is developing your site as an effective sales and marketing
tool. There it is it all of its splendor. The big secret. That takes planning.

And a regular old outline is simply not as sexy as a shiny new website or as
easy to understand as a pay per click advertising campaign. That’s why most people gravitate first to which tool they will use to build the site. In their eagerness to post a website and draw traffic, they ignore the most important step of all.

The step most often ignored is the step that directly affects your bank
account.

You can market your site like a madman on crack but it won't do squat if
visitors land on a mundane, boiler-plate website with zero target market
focus. But people will put up a site then pay for marketing without ever
considering this. Advertising and marketing can only bring people to your
site. It's the website that does the selling. Ignoring this step is a key
reason websites fail to produce the desired results.

A successful website requires two things basically:

>>It must speak to a specific target market and inspire them to take action.

>>A website owner must use channel marketing and advertising that reaches this audience and brings them in.

The key is positioning your product or service as a solution or an answer to
a problem, and developing your site as an effective sales and marketing tool
to communicate this benefit. In other words, you lay the groundwork for
successful conversions before you bring in visitors.

Stay Focused on your Goals

It’s easy to get distracted on the internet. You have a focus and plan and
all of a sudden you see a brilliant new idea that sounds like a winner. You
have to decide to limit your distractions or you’ll end up throwing darts at
clouds instead of establishing your foundation. If it helps at all, just
understand that a good number of success peddlers are living in their mom’s
basement eating hot pockets-- hardly role models when it comes to a sure-fire internet success plan. And what about the well-known marketers who are
pitching their success products? They simply have a great network, selling
formula and sales pitch.

So what you need to do is just stay on track with a method that has a proven
track record for big brands, little brands and brands in between.

Learn an Approach you'll Use Even if Google Implodes or Yahoo goes postal.

Positioning a product or service to cater to a target market is an approach to building a brand that has been around for decades. It isn’t a fly-by-night, here-today-gone-tomorrow approach that will fizzle out in six months. It’s a
lifetime skill.

Advertising agencies and big brands spend months or years researching the
target market before ever creating the first ad, website or communication.
So do you want to remain rooted in that 95th percentile of clueless internet
success wannabes? Or move to that elite 5% and reap the rewards that come
with it? The choice is yours. And this is precisely what separates the
internet entrepreneurs from the rainbow chasers.
