The definition of a network is very simple, which is “A network is a set of computers and peripheral devices that are interconnected with each other using a specific hardware such as NIC adapter, hubs, switch, router and cables and with the main purpose of sharing information, resources, services and connectivity amongst each other.”

As can be observed from its definition network is actually connecting computers with each other, but why do we need to connect computers with each other? Why can’t we work without connecting them together and save all the hassle of lying wires, making connectors, configuring software etc. Computer networking devices are units that mediate data in a computer network. Computer networking devices are also called network equipment, Intermediate Systems (IS) or InterWorking Unit (IWU). Computer networking is sometimes considered a sub-discipline of telecommunications.
