The features of the Nikon Digital SLR are such that every photographer wants it. The features of Nikon Digital SLR especially the D80 model that have attracted the photographers are as follows.
1 This camera is equipped with 3D color matrix metering II automatic exposure. This ensures the best image in the worst lighting conditions. The data from more than 30,000 photographic scenes is used to evaluate color, brightness, selected focus area, contrast, the distance between the subject and the camera. There is availability of centre weighted metering. One can also get spot metering centered on the active focus area.
2 Quality of Image: This camera has a 10.2 effective megapixel DX format CCD image sensor. This facilitates high resolution. One can have freedom to crop creatively. The enlargements can be impressive too. The image quality is assured by use of Nikon F bayonet lens mount design. The image of 3872x2592 pixel size can be captured. The image processing engine is the most latest and advanced. Prior to the analog digital conversion there is preconditioning which is color independent. The A/D conversion works in tandem with the digital image processing algorithms that are of high precision.
3 The sensitivity is adjusted automatically by ISO AUTO so that the maximum available light is used and optimal exposure is achieved. Noise reduction is possible in three levels. There is availability of long exposure noise reduction when the shutter speed is 8 seconds or less. The steps of 1/3 EV, plus HI-0.3, HI-0.7 and HI-1 help to set the sensitivity manually between ISO 100 to 1600.
4 The number of automated digital vari-programs is seven. Mode Dial facilitates easy accesses to these programs. This provides automatic operation for optimization of sharpening, white balance, and color, tone hue for crisp, saturation and results that are vivid.
5 The 11 area AF system is refined to pack a large number of focus areas into a space efficient system. This space efficient system has fast and precise operations. All the 11 focus areas are measured by new Auto-area AF mode. Only the focus areas on the primary subject are activated.
6 0.18 seconds is the instant power up
7 Fast handling is facilitated by the shutter time that is just 80 milliseconds.
8 Full creative control can be has when the speed of the shutter varies from 1/4000 to 30 seconds.
9 The speed of shooting the images is 3 frames per second. 100 JPEGG images or 6 RAW (NEF) images can be shot.
10 The D-lighting enhances the quality of the results with optimization of the overall exposure balance.
11 The files can be trimmed.
12 The red-eye correction is done automatically
13 There is availability of monochrome setting.
