There is so much buzz and hype about Social Networking and/or Social Media Marketing and these are what everyone wants to know about nowadays. It’s really the next big affair and this is the marketing in 21st century. Let me share with you what I personally feel about Social Media Marketing. Social Media Marketing is the process of advertising your website or online business through social media channels and it’s the key of furthering brand/client communication. Social Media Marketing rules can be limited in just one sentence: “Act in social networks as you would like others to act for you. As man is a social being and will always remain a social being.”

Initially, there were two vast social networking giants: MySpace and Facebook and these two networks were joined by the network marketers in order to market their opportunities. A website where anyone can share his/her perspectives, views, and thoughts through various mediums like audio, video, images etc. is a Social Media Website. These Social Media Websites play most significant role to create brand awareness, to enhance visibility and to sell a product/service.

Well, value of MySpace and Facebook is continuously dropping these days and the reason is ‘monumental release of fresh and niche focused social networks’. Some professional social networks: Yuwie, TalkMoola.com, Friendswin, Zenzuu, and Wowzza, DirectMatches, Ryze and many many more… Now, the question is why they are so popular among network marketers. The only answer to this question is that Targeted advertising is very much better than any type of advertising and the old way of network marketing is out. It’s true that all professional social networks are not created equal so you need to look out for some basic points before deciding which social media network you will utilize:

Targeted: Somewhat or Extremely

The first important thing to find out is if the people involved in social network are the same people you’re looking for or not. Are that people interested in what you’re offering or they like minded to you. If you’re going to join a social network which includes members with interest in love and date, then, it’s completely irrelevant to you (if your priorities are other than love and date such as business). The above said point contains the word ‘completely’, why I used completely is because irrelativeness weakens the potential of that social network for you. What can be the incredible source for a businessman? Answer is a social network which includes only network marketers and business seekers.

Do they have any kind of limitations?

In order to maximize your exposure, the best thing you must do is increase your friends and contacts list by accepting invitations from those seeking for like-minded people on the social network. Some social networks limit the no. of people who you can send messages, which is a very negative restriction. On the other hand, there’re some social networks which allow you to add unlimited friends. This is what you should choose. But keep in mind that using the social network in proper way is too much important.

Free, paid or both- what type of members?

Find out whether the membership is free or all paid. If the membership is free, then, they are less likely to be purchase ready. However, paid membership social networks are having highest quality members which can have enough money to invest while working with you.

Misunderstandings are also there with SEO and SMM . Look, Social Media Marketing is an addition to traditional SEO and is not a substitute. Some essential characteristics of Social Media Marketing community are: submit/tag/vote content, generate profiles, make many many & many friends.

To summarize, Social Media Marketing is what that helps any online business to promote and spread ideas among their aimed audiences and it is not just about hitting on the very first page of any social news website, actually it’s a strategical and an organized process which establishes online reputation within communities of potential customers
