The Spiritual Side Of Network Marketing

By: Lydia De Leon

If you understand Network Marketing (meaning, the genuine distribution business model based on relationship referral, not like all the money schemes out there), you will see it's spiritual side. The Christian faith and Network Marketing, are very similar.

Here are a few examples:

1. Long term success in Network Marketing demands that you focus on building relationships with those considering your business as well as with your downline.

Those who just want to bring large amounts of people into their businesses don't really care much about helping others meet their goals, only on making money off of them. If a person senses that you are trustworthy, and that you are interested in helping them achieve their goals, they will stay with you.

2. Network Marketing is all about effectively multiplying yourself, your time and your money.

In order to build a long term income, we must teach those in our organizations how to successfully build their businesses, so that they are growing and your business grows too. We cannot control whether or not they work, but we can teach them how to build their businesses and inspire them as well. Christianity too, is all about gaining the maximum effectiveness out of our time and resources.

Jesus who was the Master, administered to his disciples the task of going out and reproducing more disciples.

Aren't we doing the same thing in our Network Marketing businesses?

Finding a couple of good workers, showing them how to recruit and reproduce other leaders in their businesses, and continuing to do this over and over in our businesses. By teaching your downline the skills and knowledge they need, you don't have to do all the work yourself and your business will grow at a fast rate.

What we're doing is creating an environment that gives others the opportunity to become teachers also, and as a result, not only is more of our time freed up, but more and more people in our downlines assume more responsibilities.

Training involves knowing what your downline's needs are so that you can supply the need. Where are they encountering problems in building their business? Support them so that they can succeed. That's what Jesus does with those who follow him. He meets their needs by making sure they are armed with all the teaching and spiritual food they need so that they can live a successful holy life.

That is also what the church is for - a place to learn about God, a training place for holy living in all aspects of a person's life and a place for encouragement and fellowship.

As a good sponsor, we should supply excellent training to help them in all facets of business building. Aside from good training, our downlines need a 'community' where they will receive motivation, inspiration and encouragement in their businesses - a place to be celebrated and recognized for their achievements.

By doing these things for them, it prospers their businesses, but also, it helps prosper our businesses too. Like it's been said before, "we succeed when we help others succeed."

3. If you genuinely desire to build a prosperous six figure income, using Network Marketing as your vehicle, then faith and patience are necessities for your travel.

Many Network Marketers fail in their home based businesses because they can't handle the rejection that comes along with the package. When they don't see immediate results, they hop to another opportunity or quit altogether.

Growing a successful Network Marketing business requires faith in the process, sprinkled with a lot of patience as it starts to sprout and grow.

So how does all this relate to Network Marketing having a spiritual component to it?

First, the Christian Faith is all about truly helping and serving others. It's not about having a secret agenda that will benefit me.

It's true, we are working in Network Marketing to make money for ourselves, but our attitudes and spirits have to be right. It's more like servanthood marketing.

If we are in Network Marketing just to make money, then our attitudes and actions will reflect that in how we treat our prospects and downlines. People know when we truly care about their success.

Second, even Jesus required help in making the gospel widely known. He formed a group of twelve men and trained them on all aspects of the faith so that they could go out and find other follwers of Jesus.

The twelve disciples stepped out, practiced the teachings Jesus taught them and replicated Jesus' teachings in others. Today, the gospel has spread like a virus, and it is known throughout the whole world.

It's no different with Network Marketing. Bringing 100 people into our business is not necessary to have a successful business. If we hand pick 5 - 10 people wisely so that we work closely with them, they will teach others the same things, so that our organizations are building momentum and growth.

Creating leadership and multiplying that leadership throughout our organizations just as Jesus did with his twelve leaders is what it's all about.

Third, Jesus taught that if you had "faith as small as a mustard seed, you could move mountains". Napoleon Hill pretty much taught the same concept. Many others also have written books on the importance of positive thinking.

If our attitudes are negative, it's going to be impossible to achieve success in Network Marketing. We achieve great things and are greatly driven when we are in positive mode. We only get a low quality life and only destroy our dreams when we are in negative mode.

I can continue to enumerate the many similarities between Network Marketing and Christianity, but it would take a book to finish it all.

It boils down to this: Network Marketing is a people business, we can't do it alone. Creating relationships that will last for the long haul, conducting our businesses in a way that honors and uplifts others and putting others first is what it's all about. It's about offering the best of ourselves others and developing every area of our lives.

Without thinking correctly, controlling our self-defeating tendencies and acquiring the proper skills, it is highly unlikely that we will build a successful Network Marketing business. The sky is the limit to what can be achieved. We are always being asked to continue to grow and develop.
