Troubleshooting startup problems in Excel

MS Excel is a spreadsheet application which is commonly used and which facilitates many features ranging from calculation, graphing to pivot tables. But sometimes it may happen that when you try to open any saved spreadsheet you may experience some problem like some error message or some corrupted text.
Well, the reason can be any of the few like: corrupted shortcut to the Excel program, conflict with the other program or dll, corruption in registry keys or add-ins under the tool menu or incorrect version of a core Microsoft office file or temp directory locations are overburdened or spread sheets become read only.
The corruption of excel files may lead to drastic problems in case if some important data is saved in your excel files and you are not in the condition of loosing that data. So it becomes your primary need to sort out the problem so as to recover from the data loss condition. The solution depends upon its root as for instance:
1. In case of corrupted shortcut search for the Excel.exe file, double click on the file to start Excel.
2. If registry key is causing the problem then search for it and then remove it. They are recreated when next time you start the Excel.
3. For add-ins related problems, go to tools and then click add-ins there and then clear the check boxes that are selected.
4. One of the most fundamental way to solve the startup problems is to restart excel and if this doesn’t work too then reboot the system and then start the Excel.
5. Read only problems can also be there which can be caused if second copy has been opened, in this case close the second copy.
In some cases it may also happen that you need reinstall Excel, if none of the solution works. Reinstalling Excel may solve your problem but on the other hand you may face some other problem like corruption of your excel files. So in this case you need to adopt some other way to get back your original data.
