User’s Mistake Category: Formatted the Mac disk

I just want to share my experience with you people how I recovered my precious data from the formatted hard drive. Well, the bad day started when I came to know that one of my friends, in the eager to learn more about Mac, managed to repartition and formatted my MacBook hard drive, without realizing that my precious data was there on it and I didn’t have any backup. This was his mistake and now I was to suffer.
I was in the great hunger of getting my data back. I had all of the data of my project research on the hard drive that I needed to represent to my boss. I thought that I’ll never get my files but suddenly found an article which stated that data recovery Mac is possible through the Mac data recovery software even after formatting. The article let me know that when the hard disk is formatted, only the table entries from the file system of the data gets deleted, not the actual data.
Then someone suggested me to take the DD image of the hard drive. On research, I discovered that this is th disk copying command line utility which makes the bit-by-bit copy of the drive and makes the disk image. After this you need to run the disk image analyzer to retrieve the data.
I applied the same but unfortunately, didn’t get back the required files. I didn’t know the specific reasons but I was in the weird situation of data loss. I didn’t face such kind of problem in past and this one was really horrifying.
So the last option for me was to use the Mac recovery software. I was annoying that how would I use such complex software, even when I didn’t know Mac properly. Then I did some investigation and found Stellar Phoenix Data Recovery Macintosh software.
To start with, I thought of using the demo version first, downloaded from Stellar’s website, so that I may get an idea of how to use the software. But really the software amazed me. The interface was superbly astonishing and in just few clicks, I was able to see my lost files and rest of the other data.
But as I was in need of just those project files and rest was useless for me, so I made the use of ‘File Filter’ option of this Mac data recovery software and got my files back. I first checked out if the software has done any alteration to my files but surprisingly it wasn’t so as this data recovery Mac utility has been designed read-only.
I am using HFS Wrapper file system on my hard drive and this Mac recovery utility recovers data from HFS+, HFSX and HFS file systems too. This software is applicable for all the cases of data loss.
