Website promotion and optimization, generating high traffic, and search

engine optimization are intertwined and involve many steps.Some steps are

easy and some require the use of software.The end result of your efforts will

be a web site that has a high page ranking and lots of targeted hits.

You don't want just any visitor.You want visitors who come seeking your

help or for information for their specific need.Casual visitors who click on

a paid ad will cost you a lot of money if you are using pay per click

advertizing and they will probably exit your site unsatisfied to boot and not

return.

To be effective you need to be responsive to the needs of your visitors.

This is best done through making sure your site has one theme that answers

the need of the visitor.The term niche site best describes a one theme site.

Your choice of keywords and how you use them will determine

what your visitor is interested in seeing.Eventually you will need to

monetize their visit through some conversion of their visit or hit on your

web site. Itis obvious that you want lots of visitor traffic but trying to

sell shoes to a visitor looking for hats is more difficult. Use of keyword

phrases such as hand made Italian dress shoes will result in your getting

targeted visitor traffic.

Search engine optimization is easier with long tail keywords than it is

with short keywords. Single keywords have a higher search volume but have

more websites using them and the traffic generated is not targeted traffic.An

example would be the keyword "car" as opposed to "car sales" or "high

performance race car sales" or "antique high performance race car sales".

If you were selling a 1968 Jaguar xke you really don't want the ford car

buyer to click on your google adwords.The point of all this is that although

the traffic generated by long tail keywords is less, it is highly targeted

and that's what you want for your niche site. Using a keyword analyser will

give you many combinations of keywords that you can use as your

keyword phrases in the body of your text. If you were to search on words"

investing" or " Tampa Florida Real estate Investing" you would get very

different results.

The keywords " investing" ,"Real Estate" ,"Tampa Florida, "Beach Condos "

when entered into a keyword analyser, results in hundreds of combinations

all with an indicated search volume and density.The better keyword analysers

also tell you how many adword campaigns are run on the word or phrase and

cost for that word or phrase.You can sort through each category and

arrange them in a spreadsheet in decending or ascending order then throw

out the ones with low volume, low ad word campaigns and high density.

You are now ready to start using your main keywords in your title, keyword

list, and description. The various long tail words will be your secondary

keywords and should be used inyour body of the home page and other

supporting pages. No one has just a home page anymore and few people

search with only one word. So you will have plenty of use for the long tailed

keywords in your supporting pages

The supporting pages should all be linked to your home page. Don't

be surprised if your back pages wind up with good supporting targeted traffic

and may even rank well on their own because of the use of different

keywords in a different text.
