“The Game is Afoot!” says Robert Downey Jr.
Word has just come in that Iron Man will be traveling back in time when cobbled streets and sexual repression in the name of civility were the orders of the day. We might have overstretched the superhero part, but yes, Robert Downey Jr. has recently been cast as the legendary Sherlock Holmes.
Wolverine Goes Solo in X-Men Origins: Wolverine
Empire magazine has just released a photo showing actor Hugh Jackman baring his claws as the enigmatic Wolverine in order to promote an upcoming movie which places the adamantium wielding superhero on the center spotlight.
Tranformers 2 Spoilers
The movie started shooting yesterday with Rainn Wilson’s scene as Professor Clone, and here is the quick spoiler that came from a very reliable source:
The Smurfs Movie
Literally hundreds of Blue, shirtless, male-dominated race of gnomes are coming to the Hollywood silver screen. The lovable cartoon show from the eighties called The Smurfs is confirmed for a feature film.
The Joker: An Upholder of Feminism?
A lot can be done in two and a half hours. You can do the laundry, go grocery shopping, and pick up the kids from school. Or if you happened to be a furor some decades back, then you can stage a blitzkrieg invasion on an unsuspecting country—use your imagination. Of course there’s also sitting through one of the best movies of this year, and having enough time between exhilarating action sequences to think how a certain character may—though somehow ironically—uphold feminist ideals.
The Best and Worst of Batman
What do you expect of a comic book adaptation? You want the thrill that you get when reading the comic books amplified as you watch the action come to life on big screen. The first Batman movie in 1966, with Adam West, might have failed at this. It is difficult to look up to Batman when he is wearing spandex and riding a helicopter that has bat wings attached to it. Thanks to Tim Burton, audiences got their first look on a great and justified Batman adaptation in 1989.
Scriptwriting for The Hobbit Kicks Off
Based on reports from TheOneRing.net and Entertainment Weekly, scriptwriting for The Hobbit movies has officially started.
The film will be based on the prequel to the Lord of the Rings trilogy (The Fellow of the Ring, The Two Towers, and The Return of the King ). The story will revolve around a hobbit named Bilbo Baggins (Frodo’s uncle), and his adeventures with Gandalf the Grey.
Hancock is One Bad Superhero
I used to be really scared of grumpy homeless chumps, I’d step away from them or scream for help the minute they show signs of extending their raggedy arms towards me or my food. But after seeing the bad-ass theatrical trailer of Hancock, the much-anticipated movie of a hard-living superhero starring Will Smith, I could hug that smelly man on the train station and give him a high-five and a “yeah!”.
Good and Bad News About The Incredible Hulk
The Inredible Hulk opened last week with some, uh…Incredible Hollywood results. Clearly overshadowing it’s box office bomb of a predecessor (by Ang Lee), the new and improved Hulk earned pretty huge dollars and at the same time managed to reverse some low expectations and skepticism.
Dune: Remake in Pre-Production
Pre-production paperwork and legal mumbo jumbo are going on right now in Hollywood concerning a proposed remake of the 1984 cult classic Dune. Adapted from Frank Herbert’s science fiction novels, which stretches to six novels, the folks at Paramount are considering doing one better from the previous film adaptation.
DiCaprio Plays With Atari
Oscar nominated actor Leonardo DiCaprio is scheduled to play another American business tycoon on a Hollywood screen. It’s been years since his portrayal of the infamous (while some argue famous) Howard Hughes in The Aviator. Now, he moves onto portraying one of the founding fathers of videogames, as well as one of the industry’s first millionaire Nolan Bushnell in a film entitled Atari.
